AFTER decades of anticipation and preparation, the Nelson Mandela Bay North Scouts of South Africa have proudly launched their very own District Badge.
District Commissioner of NMB North, Theresa Naidoo, said, “This emblem is more than just a symbol; it represents the community’s resilience, wisdom, and bright future. The badge was meticulously designed to reflect the unique story and rich heritage of the NMBN Scouts.”
The badge incorporates several elements from the history of Bethelsdorp, including the beautiful plateau of the Van Der Kempskloof, the little Swartkops River, and the local fauna and flora.
“The Badge is more than just an emblem. It’s part of our rich inherent heritage. It’s a story of our past, present, future, and the spirit of NMB North District of Scouts S.A.,” Naidoo added.
One of the key features of the badge is the book, which stands as a symbol of knowledge and wisdom. Scout Group Leader, Danny Barth explained, “The book on our Badge reminds us that the power of learning and understanding is a journey we all share. It guides our Scouts community into the future and shapes our tomorrow.”
The blue sky on the badge is a powerful symbol of optimism and confidence, representing a bright future for the NMBN Scout Movement. “With clear skies ahead, we are moving forward with new hope and determination,” Barth said.
Another significant element is the Aloe plant, which represents the strength and healing power found in Bethelsdorp. “Just like the remarkable Aloe plant, our community thrives even in the toughest conditions. The Aloe’s vibrant orange flowers are a beacon of resilience, just like us,” Naidoo noted.
Barth concluded by saying, “We can only grow from strength to strength with the main objective goal to build our own Scouts Hall. We encourage all members of the community to help us materialise our dreams.”
