FAIRVIEW Rovers are slowly creeping up the PELFA Old Buck Gin League log table.

Having started slowly as the newcomers, they seem to have found their feet and based on recent results, they could be challenging for the title.

Last Wednesday, they beat Kuyga Masters 3-1. Their top goal scorer, Sharief Mamoojee, helped himself to a brace in the fifth and 55th minute, while Warren le Roux added their third goal in the 40th minute of the game.

Kuyga’s lone goal came from Enoch Chekure in the 14th minute.

Log leaders Central Acemates got the better of St Albans 4-0 in their own backyard. Khaya Saziwa helped himself to a brace in the first half, while Lungile Davashe and Melikhaya Mdlalo chipped in with a goal each in the second half.

The second-placed Callies thumped PE City 8-1 on their Londt Park turf.

City led the match 1-0 at half time after Clifford Murphy’s goal before turning on the power in the second half and making the score 8-1.

Kurt Peterson scored three goals, while Karl Pereira scored another three and from Nigel Bailey and Anton Bellairs added one each.

Third place Mahle Old Grey also had a big win over Priory. Richard Clarke scored twice and Wayne Blochlinger added another to put Old Grey up 3-0 at half-time. Clinton White added their fourth, while Clarke scored a peanut and Blochlinger a goal in the second half.

Shamrocks returned to their winning ways with a 5-2 win over NMBM.

Kumarin Naidoo and Naj Padachie each scored a brace in the first half. Charles Moodaley netted Shamrocks’ fifth goal in the dying minutes of the game.

African Leopards and Westpark had a close game with Leopards taking the three points with a 4-3 win.

Andile McClean opened the scoring for Leopards in the first half.

The second half saw Sipho Solomon and Tabo Simane score Leopards’ second and third goals and Andile McClean got a brace halfway through the second half.

Mike Frosler scored for Westpark five minutes into the game and Gary Juru netted another two for Westpark in the second half.
