SAPS Mount Road detectives are urgently trying to trace the mother of a newborn baby boy that was left at the entrance of SAPS Mount Road during the early hours of this morning, February 13.
According to police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, it is alleged that at about 02:00, as a police official was walking towards the vehicle, she heard the sound of a crying baby coming from the entrance at the pedestrian gate.
“The baby was found on the floor in the corner. He was wrapped in a black and brown towel and a white blanket,” said Naidu.
She further said that the baby was taken to Dora Nginza Hospital.
“A case of child abandonment was opened for investigation,” said Naidu.
