Less than a month after launching pageant organisation, Face of the Bay, at a high tea event at City Hall in Gqeberha in collaboration with the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, the organisation has opened entries to their inaugural Mr, Miss and Mrs Face of the Bay 2024 pageant competition.
As previously reported by PE Express, Face of the Bay was founded by Candice Heynes, title holder of Mrs PE for 2017 and top 100 in Mrs South Africa in 2020.
She initially established Face of the Bay to make a difference in the community by changing the way pageants operate, and provide more transparency and consistency.
As part of the launch of Face of the Bay, Heynes, with the municipality, hosted a high tea event to uplift and empower 150 women from NMB to move them out of their comfort zones, and stand tall by realising their true worth.
“Face of the Bay is an organisation focused on uplifting and empowering women and local communities in and around the Bay,” said Heynes.
She further said that the organisation consists of charity work, hosting events, and pageants which are transparent and consistent.
“It is not a beauty pageant, but the passion inside of you, that determines your worth in making a difference,” said Heynes.
As part of their first pageant show, which is expected to take place in 2024 with a date to be confirmed at a later stage, they will have multiple categories including, Mrs Face of the Bay (married, divorced or widowed), Mr Face of the Bay (21 to 35 years), Miss Face of the Bay (21 to 35 years), Miss Teen Face of the Bay (13 to 20 years) and Little Miss Face of the Bay (5 to 12 years).
“We will empower and entrust our winners of all age categories to make a difference and be consistent in a difficult world, during and after their reign,” said Heynes.
She said that entries for the pageant will begin on November 1.
Heynes said that from the beginning of November those who are interested in entering the Miss, Mrs and Mr categories, must like and follow the Face of the Bay Facebook page, and add a comment as to why they would like to enter the competition.
As part of their comment, they should include their email address and the entry form for the competition, will be sent to them via email.
To register in person, participants can visit the Face of the Bay stand at Baywest Mall’s Edgars entrance on December 2 and 3, from 10:00 to 18:00.
Entry for the pageant competition is R350.
“There will be a red carpet where participants can take pictures and meet me in person.
“They will also be required to pay their entry fee and will receive their goodie-bag at Baywest Mall,” said Heynes.
She said that Face of the Bay has received sponsorship from Edgars Baywest, Mac Baywest, Estée Lauder and Clinique Baywest.
“If you have the passion and drive and think you are capable of fulfilling this role, then this pageant is yours for the taking,” said Heynes.
