THE Nelson Mandela Bay libraries now boast a collection of 2 073 new pieces of reading material, which will be available for a period of 28 days.
The libraries received popular titles to keep abreast with both national and international trends, after noticing a growing interest in graphic novels and comics.
The reading material will be available for registered library users to borrow and read. Most of the titles on the collection are well known TV series’ and best selling movies such as Black Panther, Aquaman, Batman, Ghost Busters, Iron Man and others.
Delivering her message of support at the launch of the titles, MMC for Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Lehlohonolo Mfana, said that children are the future of the country.
“It is through reading that we are going to create intellectuals and academic.
“Remember that reading keeps young ones out of criminal practices,” Mfana explained.
Mfana also handed out medals and certificates to winners of the reading challenge which took place in August and September.
Each child (ages three to 13 years) was required to read a minimum of 10 books.
