Lane closures and shoulder closures will be implemented from January 20 to January 31 on the N2 from the Linton Grange Interchange to St Albans due to an ongoing project.

According to a statement from the South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL), there will be at least three lane closures every 24 hours for the stretches from km 19.4 to km 22.8 on the westbound slow lane, km 12.8 to km 16.6 on the westbound slow lane, and km 12.8 to km 16.6 on the eastbound slow lane.

“Motorists can expect minimal delays, with a reduced traveling speed to ensure safety,” the statement noted.

“Construction plant will be encountered along the closures,” the statement said.

“The extensive scope of this project includes texture correction, rut corrections, in-situ recycling of the base using bituminous emulsion, base patches, and the resealing of the existing road surface,” the statement added.

Acting Regional Manager for SANRAL Southern Region, Lwazi Mbanga, said these activities might result in temporary inconveniences; however, substantial long-term benefits primarily revolve around preserving infrastructure.

“The preservation and improvement of road infrastructure not only guarantee smoother travel experiences but also play a crucial role in enhancing the economic and social well-being of the community,” Mbanga added.

“SANRAL appeals to motorists to adhere to the warning signs, reduce speed when approaching the construction zones, and plan their trips accordingly,” the statement concluded.
