A teenage boy from Motherwell has died after he was struck by lightning during a thunderstorm yesterday, March 29.
Police spokesperson, Capt. André Beetge, said that 17-year-old Athinkosi Nofeliti was walking across an open space close to Sisulu Street, NU29, when the lightning struck him.
“He passed away on the scene. He was on his way home to NU29 after soccer practice in NU30. Motherwell SAPS opened an inquest docket,” Beetge said.
