SAFA Nelson Mandela Bay (NMB) Regional League reigning champions, Motherwell Academy, handed Highland Spurs a 5-0 victory during their game that took place at Motherwell NU 2 Stadium on Sunday.
Academy’s right winger, Milani Mrwadi, scored a quick early goal, as Spurs’ defenders seemed to suffer a lapse in concentration.
Mrwadi doubled his goal tally after he scored his second goal in the last minutes of the first half. The Kariega side tried all they could to score their opening goal but the hosts did not give them a chance.
Academy increased their lead to 3-0 after Lithemba Malinduku sent a long-range shot that beat Spurs’ goalkeeper early in the second half. Mrwadi became the hero of the day, as he scored his third goal, following a perfect cross that was delivered by Xolisa Njamela.
Academy’s midfielder, Thembinkosi Thuys, put the last nail into Spurs’ coffin, when he scored a goal from the penalty spot.
Motherwell Academy claimed an emphatic 5-0 victory over Highland Spurs.
Stinging Bees also humiliated Motherwell School of Excellence 4-1 in their game, which also took place at the Motherwell NU 2 Stadium on Sunday.
Bees’ sure-footed young striker, Lilitha Maqungu, banged in a brace, while Lelona Nqwazi and Lindokuhle Zicwele came up with a goal apiece.
Sibongile Marali scored the home side’s consolation goal from the penalty mark.
