Jordan Brown, a rising star from Gqeberha, has recently been signed by a prestigious international agency in India.
She departed South Africa shortly after the Opulent Models Competition finals, which took place in August this year. Since her signing with MMM in Cape Town, Jordan’s commitment, professionalism, confidence, and humility have made her stand out.
Brown began her modelling journey under the guidance of Gail Brown, the owner of a top modelling school in Gqeberha. This provided her with an excellent platform to build confidence, participate in shows and competitions, and learn how to work in front of a camera.
With further mentoring from MMM, it became evident that Brown also has a talent for acting, and there are plans to explore this avenue further. Acting adds a different dimension to modelling and is a valuable asset in the commercial industry.
Prior to her departure, Brown already had seven confirmed bookings awaiting her arrival in India, including high-end fashion brands and Indian Fashion Week.
“We are extremely proud of Jordan being selected as a finalist for the Opulent Models Competition, the biggest modelling competition in South Africa, and of course, the international modelling journey she has just started,” said MMM Director, Martéz Saporta-Rothuysen.
Brown joined another MMM model from the friendly city, Anicka de Lange, who was placed with the same agency a few months ago and is doing exceptionally well abroad.
Reflecting on her journey, Brown said, “In January 2024, I was selected as a finalist to take part in the Opulent Models Female Runway competition that took place in Pretoria on August 22, 2024.
“The Opulent Models competition is the biggest modelling competition in South Africa, and I just knew I needed to be a part of it. The journey and process took eight months. I flew up from Gqeberha in April for the Opulent Models Model Party and again in June for the Master Class, meeting many incredible and kind runway finalists.
“The Opulent Models Finale in August was an experience I cannot describe. I felt an immense amount of joy walking on that ramp, knowing that was where I was meant to be; knowing I had so many people supporting me and believing in me made it easy to walk on that ramp in front of 5 000 guests. If you believe in yourself, you truly can accomplish your dreams.”
Brown added that she always strived for more, to continue growing in the modelling industry and learn more.
A few months prior to landing in New Delhi, India, the 19-year-old had been scouted and signed by modelling agency, Azure Talents, in India.
“This is an opportunity that I could not miss; this is my time to get out there and show what I am made of. It really has been such an incredible experience so far. I could not be more grateful for all the love and support I have been blessed with.
“Modelling has become my passion in life, and no matter how far I get, I want to go further. I want to show my true potential in everything that I do, and I believe that there is always room for growth when you step out of your comfort zone,” she added.
Her mother, Rene Brown, expressed her pride, saying, “We are such proud parents! This is such a feel-good, chasing-your-dreams, inspiring kind of story.”
