THE love and support of her family and community is what keeps her going and encourages her to never give up – enjoying what she does is just a bonus.
Lwazikazi Johannes, born and raised in Gqeberha, took her first steps onto a pageant stage at the age of eight.
“I had the support of my family, especially my brother, Lwando, who is the reigning Mr Eastern Cape 2021/2022. He always motivated me to enter pageants, saying that modelling suits me.
“Since then, I’ve entered pageantry and enjoyed it. I am still enjoying it, especially doing charity work as I was raised by parents who taught us to give back to others,” she said.
The 13-year-old is a Grade 8 learner at Kabega Christian School and is the youngest of three children.
Last year, Lwazikazi entered Miss Pre-teen Port Elizabeth and was crowned the first princess. In March 2022, she entered Mr And Miss Enviro 2022, where they had to design dresses from recycled materials. She won a debutante award and was crowned the first princess.
“Kim and Wayne Broedelet have been supporting me with everything, including sponsorships and the design of my dresses,” she said.
Now, she’s a 2022 Miss Teen South Africa finalist and will be representing Gqeberha and the Eastern Cape at national level in Johannesburg in October.
In preparing for the finals, she’s also focused on doing charity work.
On April 12, she handed a donation over to Fietjies Preschool in Motherwell – the preschool she had attended.
“I felt sad that day as I heard my preschool teacher had passed away a few years ago, but also felt happy because I know wherever she is, she’s proud of me.”
The final event will be held in Pretoria from October 7 to 9.
“I need more support from everyone in order for me to bring the crown home to the Eastern Cape. To vote for me, please SMS TSA314 to 47018.”
Voting closes on August 31.
