A MODELLING show to raise funds for a struggling family, will see residents compete to win the title of ‘Miss Kuyga’ this Saturday.

The Kuyga’s Next Top Model 2019 show was organised by Renaldo Bosch, in an effort to raise funds for Johanna Hector, who was diagnosed with dystonia at the age of 12.

Dystonia is a movement disorder in which a person’s muscles contract uncontrollably.

The contraction causes the affected body part to twist involuntarily, resulting in repetitive movements or abnormal postures.

Dystonia can affect one muscle, a muscle group, or the entire body.

According to Bosch, it has been a whirlwind few years for the Hector family, who received the news no family wants to hear.

“I’ve met the family through my church group and have seen their hardships over the years. I have decided to raise funds to help the family for Johanna’s 21st birthday next year,” Bosch said.

The fund-raiser will feature a modelling show consisting of three categories with Kugya residents competing for the title. The proceeds of the event will go towards Johanna and her family.

Bosch added, “I’ve reached out to various community members to assist with the fund-raiser. Everything is in order for the event and we’re extremely grateful to everyone who helped.”

The event will take place this Saturday, November 16, at 16:00 the Kuyga Community Hall. The entry fee is R30 per person. For more information about the event or to donate to the family, contact Bosch at 062 976 1867 or via e-mail at roseline.bruintjies-ext@adient.com.
