Minister of Correctional Services cancels parole for Alison Botha’s attackers

The Minister of Correctional Services, Dr. Pieter Groenewald, has canceled parole for Frans du Toit and Theuns Kruger, the convicted attackers of Alison Botha, today, February 4.

As previously reported by the PE Express, Alison Botha is internationally known as a survivor of a brutal assault that occurred in December 1994. She was subjected to a violent attack and rape by Frans du Toit and Theuns Kruger, who stabbed her 37 times in the stomach and cut her throat.

According to the statement issued by the Ministry of Correctional Services, this decision follows a thorough evaluation and consultation of legal opinions.

The statement read: “This decision was made in accordance with the Correctional Services Act, which empowers the Minister to cancel parole for individuals sentenced to life imprisonment.

“The Minister’s primary consideration is the imperative of protecting and securing the community, particularly in instances where acts of violence against women and children have been committed.

“Both individuals have been reincarcerated and will remain in custody.”
