THE Milk Producer Organisation plans to host its first Melkfees in collaboration with Humansdorp The Co-op who is their biggest sponsor, on September 23 and 24 at the Ferry Hotel in Gamtoos, where visitors can look forward to a vast range of entertainment.
According to Anri Wolmarans, regional manager for the Milk Producer Organisation and organiser of the Melkfees, the organisation hopes to create awareness about the dairy industry and has therefore decided to host their first Melkfees which will be both educational and fun.
“We want to get people excited about milk and the Melkfees will help with that,” said Wolmarans.
With over 50 stalls, visitors can look forward to an exciting line up which will kick off on Friday, September 23, from 13:00.
During the first day of the two-day event, there will be a dairy-inspired craft corner for children while those who are interested in learning how to make cheese can book their slot by contacting Retha on 082 873 8945 by September 15.
Visitors will also be able to meet dairy cows and are welcome to pet the cows or
even take a selfie with them.
To end off an exciting first day at the Melkfees, there will be an amazing live performance by South African musicians, Michelle Ohlhoff who will perform at 15:00, while Jakkie Louw will perform at 19:00.
The second day of the Melkfees will kick off at 08:00 on Saturday, September 24.
In addition to the fun zone for children, meeting the dairy cows and learning how to make cheese, there will also be a get fit session with biokinetics instructor Anzerie Harper and a German Shepherd training demo by the German Shepherd Club.
Furthermore, there will be a Melktert eating competition, Schutzhund K9 Unit demo and a Zoo to You show.
The jam–packed day will also include live music culture and a music competition.
The final day will end off with a spectacular performance by musician, Altus Theart, at 19:00.
The daily entrance fee for the Melkfees is R80 for adults and R50 for children while a weekend pass is R100 for adults and R60 for children.
