A man was shot outside the Baywest Mall earlier today.

SAPS Kabega Park detectives opened a case of attempted murder after a shooting incident took place at the Baywest Mall in Gqeberha this afternoon, 23 February.

According to Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, police spokesperson, it is alleged that at approximately 13:35 the victim (21) was sitting outside the entrance of a shopping mall with co-workers. 

“While sitting and talking, a shot was fired and the victim fell to the ground. The victim sustained an injury in the upper leg and was taken to hospital. The motive for the shooting is unknown and a case of attempted murder was opened,” she said.

The investigation is ongoing.
