The name of the man killed in a horror crash in Sunridge
Park late on Thursday evening has been released by police.
The victim has been identified as 33-year-old Tiaan van der
Westhuizen.
A case of culpable homicide is currently under investigation
after a head-on collision between Van der Westhuizen’s black Citi Golf and a
grey Isuzu bakkie on the corners of Kragga Kamma Drive and Tulip Avenue.
The accident occurred at approximately 23:00 that night.
According to police spokesperson, Capt. Sandra Janse van Rensburg,
at the time of the collision, the bakkie was travelling in Kragga Kamma towards
Circular Drive and the Golf in the oncoming lane towards Cotswold. “The driver
of the Golf passed away on the scene. Both drivers were alone in their
vehicles,” Janse van Rensburg said.
“The driver of the Isuzu bakkie was already taken to
hospital prior to police arrival,” she added.
