A Gqeberha man, Nkuleleko Gqomo (75), died by electrocution in his flooded home in Kwazakhele yesterday, October 22.
Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, said that according to information gathered, the incident happened at approximately 07:20 in Gqomo’s home on Meke Street, Kwazakhele.
She said: “He exited his bedroom and discovered the lounge was flooded due to heavy rainfall. He noticed that the electric wires were submerged in water. As he attempted to disconnect the wires, he encountered the electrified water and was electrocuted.”
Following the incident, SAPS Kwazakhele detectives opened an inquest. “The investigation is ongoing,” she added.
