The police have confirmed that the drowning victim at Maitlands Beach yesterday morning, December 27, was Grizelda (Zelda) van der Nest, a well-known Gqeberha real estate agent.
According to reports, Van der Nest (62) and her partner went for a swim at Maitlands, and as they were getting out of the water, both were caught by a wave.
Her partner managed to get out, but Van der Nest drowned. Members of the community in the area managed to recover her body.
Since the news broke on social media yesterday, tributes have poured in for Van der Nest, who was a well-loved and respected Gqeberha real estate agent.
Based on posts from her Facebook page, she was known for her love of the ocean. She also frequently shared scenes from her regular morning walks and swims at Maitlands.
