THE Nelson Mandela Bay football fraternity takes pride in one of their rising stars, Lilo Show, after he left Kariega on Thursday to join Pretoria School of Excellence.

The New City Stars attacking midfielder was identified by the Tshwane-based football development centre when he represented Qhagqiwa Football Association (QHAFA) during the Volkswagen Vaya Cup tournament that was held in Witwatersrand in December.

The KwaNobuhle-born boy and a Dower Practising School student thanked his coach, Ways Naidoo, for introducing him to football.

“I would like to thank my coach Naidoo for being my pillar of strength during time in New City Stars FC,” said Show. “I would like to play for Mamelodi Sundowns and then I wish to play overseas one day. When my dream is realised, I would like to help all the people who helped me. I would also help my club New City Stars and I would buy a smart car and a big house for my grandmother because she is very supportive of me.”

According to Coach Naidoo, Show is a great soccer player, describing him as “composed” in front of the goal.

“This boy is our local football association (LFA) u.15 top goal scorer. He is always composed in front of the goals. He has a bright future in football,” said Naidoo. “He is our pride and I am excited that this opportunity has arisen while he is still very young.”

Show’s grandmother, Nombulelo Show, thanked Naidoo for identifying talent in their community.

“I would like to thank Naidoo for saving our children. His responsibility is highly huge in our community because he treats all these players as his own children,” she said.
