In a display of community collaboration, almost 1 000 learners from 19 schools in Nelson Mandela Bay were provided invaluable insight into their future, thanks to the Boardwalk Hotel and Casino Career Expo, hosted on April 15. The event, in partnership with the Eastern Cape Gambling Board, served as an opportunity for Grades 11 and 12 learners from under-privileged backgrounds to be exposed to a diverse array of career options. It also created the opportunity to connect with 25 exhibitors, including prospective sponsors, employers, educational institutions and professionals from various industries such as hospitality, banking, retail and healthcare. ‘Our aim is not only to educate and support youth as they embark on their career journeys, but also to highlight the various job possibilities within the economy,’ said Boardwalk’s general manager, Tati Tsunke.
