SAFA Nelson Mandela Bay Industrial League newcomers Tenneco salvaged a very close 4-3 victory over fellow “rookies” Contitech at Dana UTH Grounds on Sunday.

Tenneco looked the better side in the first stanza of the game as they kept Contitech at bay. Tenneco scored world-class goals.

Zaido scored a brace, while Thembela banged in a single goal which resulted in Tenneco leading 3-0 until the half-time break.

Contitech came back strongly in the second half, as they kept Tenneco in their own territory. Mbuyisdelo Maloni came up with a brace for Contitech, with the scoreline being 3-2.

The hard work paid dividends to Contitech as Maloni banged in an equalising goal from a penalty spot that sent his loyal supporters into raptures.

The joy of Contitech was short-lived as Thembela scored the winning goal which made the final score 4-3 in favour of Tenneco.
