Businessman Patrice Motsepe has donated R30-million to help
flood-hit KwaZulu Natal.

This follows after King Misuzulu ka Zwelithini and Motsepe,
together with the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Sihle Zikalala, visited the
area of Tshelimnyama, west of Durban to assess the extent of damage caused by
the recent floods.

On Friday, April 15, government announced it would be making
at least R1 billion available for emergency relief, with more to come later.

The province’s floods death toll has increased to 398 and at
least 264 schools across the province have been affected.

The Department of Human Settlements says around 4 000 homes
have been completely destroyed by the floods in KZN, with Tshelimnyama having
been one of the areas most affected.

The South African Weather Service has warned that above
average rainfall is expected to hit KZN throughout this weekend.
