Police are on the hunt for two suspects after the Kwadwesi Post Office was robbed this morning (Monday).

It is alleged that the complainant was returning from the kitchen inside the post office just before 10:00 when she was confronted by an unknown armed suspect.

The second suspect remained on the customer service side.

According to police spokesperson, Capt. Sandra Janse van Rensburg, the armed suspect forced the other cashiers into the kitchen and demanded money from the safe.

“An undisclosed amount of cash was taken. It is unclear if the suspects fled in a getaway vehicle or on foot,” Janse van Rensburg said.

“No one was injured during the robbery and no shots were fired. Both suspects were armed with firearms. The complainant’s cell phone was also taken,” she added.

Police are appealing to anyone who can assist with information in tracing the suspects to contact the Kwadwesi police station on 041 405 4705 or Crime Stop on 0860010111. They can also visit their nearest police station. All information is confidential and callers may remain anonymous.
