NELSON Mandela Bay Municipality Executive Mayor, Nqaba Bhanga, has vowed to accelerate service delivery with the aim of restoring the human dignity of the community of KwaZakhele.
This comes after the mayor recently held a community engagement meeting at the MK Silvertown Building, KwaZakhele, as part of his efforts to beef up service delivery and ensure that metro residents’ complaints are attended to.
Bhanga was joined by Ward 16 Councillor, Xola Sabani, and the municipal service delivery related directorate representatives.
Poor road surfaces, criminal activities, water leaks and the need for housing and electrification in some parts of the township, and for projects that will benefit the community, were some of the concerns raised by KwaZakhele dwellers.
“I encourage you as the community to establish a neighbourhood-watch system to help curb criminal activities,” Bhanga said.
He further encouraged residents to report water leaks and to first obtain the requisite reference number for the complaint lodged.
The mayor also issued a strong warning to municipal employees who failed to perform their duties diligently and effectively, saying that he would follow up on all service delivery complaints.
