Gqeberha is gearing up for the second annual All White Heritage Day Picnic, taking place on September 22 at Victoria Park. This highly anticipated event promises an exciting lineup of talented artists, including the renowned Thandiswa Mazwai, Bethusi
Since its inception last year, the picnic has become a highlight of the Eastern Cape’s events calendar, offering a unique blend of music, culture, and lifestyle activities. This year’s event aims at celebrating Heritage Day, while providing employment opportunities for local artists, SMMEs, and service providers.
Festgoers are eagerly awaiting the chance to showcase their stylish all-white outfits, adorned with traditional touches, and designed by Eastern Cape’s talented designers.
The line-up is jam-packed, with an array of award-winning singers, DJs, and programme directors, ensuring an unforgettable experience.
The event is made possible through the collaboration of Ebubeleni Festival, Sandla Black, and the Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, along with various media partners.
Marketing and Publicity Co-ordinator, Tembi Mahambehlala, said the organisers are excited about this year’s picnic, and feel the people of Gqeberha, Kariega, and surrounding areas deserve to have a day filled with music, good food, and fashion.
“The people of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality deserve to just let loose, after everything we’ve been through. We’re famous for being a kind, happy people, and it’s time to get that back,” said Mahambehlala.
“Apart from the amazing line-up and just the fun that is going to be had, we’re also quite excited about the job opportunities this picnic creates, especially for young people in the municipality. From people in transport, food, designers and accommodation, it’s a beautiful ripple effect that will contribute in boosting the economy of this province.”
Mahambehlala concluded by encouraging people to buy tickets and prepare to put their dancing shoes on, because the picnic promises to set the city on fire.
Tickets are available at Webtickets, Pick n Pay, and Boxer stores, starting from R355 for general admission, R1 200 for VIP, and R100 for cooler box admission. No tickets will be sold at the gate. The dress code is all white with a touch of heritage/culture, and gates open at 09:00.
The event runs from 11:00 to 18:00, and under 18s will not be allowed.
