In a spirited initiative to uplift women, the “Her Voice, Her Sound” talent competition aims to showcase and support women musicians.

Speaking to the Express, Edgar Muzah—a seasoned performer, composer, songwriter, musical director, bass and mbira player, and one of the brains behind It Sounds Fresh, a dynamic creative hub and recording studio—explained their goal to target women across the Eastern Cape.

“We are excited to discover raw, untapped, unsigned talent,” Edgar said.

“Five women will earn the chance to record a single with It Sounds Fresh. They will also be featured on an EP, with their music distributed on all digital streaming platforms and radio. They’ll receive PR support, which we hope will propel their careers.”Edgar emphasised the broader vision of the competition, aiming for these talented women to compete on a national level and for their music to gain national recognition.

The public can now see who has made it to the top 10 of the It Sounds Fresh competition on Facebook and Instagram. People can vote for their favorite female musicians.

Voting opens tomorrow, Wednesday, 7 August 2024 and closes on Friday, 17 August at midnight.
