Helenvale United FC junior player, Juan Zaan Dickensen, has taken the football fraternity by storm as he joins Chippa United development side, after serving his former club with distinction.

Dickensen started his football career at Helenvale at just six-years-old, playing in the u/9 team. According to the Helenvale team manager, Neil Plaatjies, Dickensen showcased his talent when he received his Northern Areas Football Association (NAFA) u/9 side colours in his first game. Plaatjies said credit should go to NAFA and legendary Helenvale junior coach, Kapie Kameldien, who unearthed Dickensen’s talent.

According to Plaatjies, Dickensen has represented NAFA and Northern Areas schools’ teams in all age groups.

“Zaan is a star who keeps on winning multiple awards for our side and also individual awards,” said Plaatjies.

“I am very proud that this boy has managed to represent Eastern Cape Senior Schools’ team for the past three years.

“He is well disciplined on and off the field and a bright future in his football career lies ahead of him. He displays high levels of dedication, determination and discipline all the time. Those three aspects have earned Dickensen a call by Chippa United. We are very proud of Juan because he has put our club on the map. We at Helenvale would like to wish Juan the best of luck in his future endeavours.”

Dickensen’s strengths as an attacking midfielder include kicking with both feet and long-range goal scoring.
