Welcome rain that fell in Gqeberha and its Kouga catchment areas also brought with it strong winds and destruction in and around the metro and along the N2 yesterday and today, July 30.
According to the Kouga Municipality’s Facebook page, there has been reports of uprooted trees and rockfalls along the N2 before the Eerste Rivier offramp towards Kareedouw and along the R102 between Plaatjiesdrift and Leeubos towards Humansdorp.
In Gqeberha, according to Port Elizabeth Traffic Updates facebook page, on the M4, Sidon Road, a state vehicle has overturned in a body of water.
There are also reports of fallen trees on Kragga Kamma Road, and there is a considerable amount of debris on the road, with plenty of sizeable branches.
After the recent good rainfall the dam levels are as follows: Groendal Dam (100 %), Kouga Dam (47.31 %), Loerie Dam (98.81%), Impofu Dam (10.73 %), Churchill Dam (62.7%). The combined capacity is 38.23% with 32.81% available.
