A dog has been reunited with its family after they thought their beloved pet had drowned in the sea.
Frodo, the Boxer dog that went missing on Sunday, 11 October at Orient Beach in East London, has been found safe a week after he disappeared.
According to Geoff McGregor, NSRI East London station commander, it was suspected that Frodo may have drowned after going missing when the Kemp family’s dogs
were playing on rocks, chasing birds on the shoreline during a routine
morning beach walk.
“NSRI East London had searched for the dog on Sunday and Frodo’s family had
searched for him every day this week before getting the good news on Saturday morning,” McGregor said.
Leon Kemp, Frodo’s owner, told the NSRI that they got a call from the beach manager at Orient Beach
on Saturday, 17 October, reporting a dog appearing to look just like Frodo that
that was just seen running on the beach before disappearing into some bushes.
“Leon and his son went to the beach and they admit that they were overcome with
emotion when Frodo was found safe on the beach.”
Following the happy reunion, the Kemp family returned home to reunite Frodo with his
brother Boxer dog Sam and their Boerboel Max.
“Frodo and Sam are from the same litter and they are like Siamese twins,” said Kemp.
