IT’S time to get back to some good old Broadway! Audiences in Nelson Mandela Bay have already enjoyed a feast of great shows from G&S at the Savoy in 2023.
This year’s Valentine’s Cabaret was hailed as the best ever, and the January Holiday Theatre Project was a huge hit. There’s much more to come, starting with a return of the always popular Broadway Revue after four years – Mind My Broadway.
Co-director of Music! Movies! Magic! and standout performer in Love is in the Air, Leandi Fontini, is an exciting new addition to the G&S creative pool.
Fontini’s visionary concept for this all-singing, all-dancing spectacular, Mind My Broadway, comes alive as she tells the story of Lola, the “too fabulous to be past it” Broadway diva.
“This show is a celebration of a stage performer’s career, the good, the bad and the ugly, that comes with it and how, no matter how cruel the industry can be, your spirit and love for theatre never dies,” said Fontini.
“It’s a story of courage, resilience and the power of following your dreams.”
Mind my Broadway introduces another great addition to the G&S team, with Robert Gillmer making his debut as vocal director.
Carl-Lee Moodley choreographs the 30-strong cast. This power team supports Fontini to create a breathtaking production that will have audiences enjoying every moment.
Lola, with the help of her vivid storytelling, brings to life some musical theatre favourites, as well as fabulous lesser-known Broadway hits.
Audiences will recognise some popular faces in the cast in Melissa Leander, Phil Cowie, Georgia-Jo Palmer and Ashleigh Maling-Nel, with Rose Cowpar as Lola.
Mind my Broadway runs from May 19 to 27 at the Savoy Theatre in Adcockvale.
There will be a welcome return of the popular cabaret style seating at tables, and patrons are welcome to bring along a picnic to enjoy during the show. A cash bar and coffee bar will be available, with card facilities.
Tickets are R130 for performances at 19:30 nightly from Wednesday to Saturday, and for the matinée at 15:00 on Sunday, May 21.
A table booking of eight is R1 000. Tickets are only R90 for the special family matinée on Saturday, May 20, and Tuesday evening at 19:30. Bookings are on Webtickets and at any Pick ’n Pay store.
