GQEBERHA – Preferred Solutions Eastern Cape opened its new headquarters at 93 Main Road, Walmer, on Wednesday, 15 April.
The firm hosted an event for approximately 150 business partners and clients to mark the relocation.
Shane Mclean, Managing Director, said the move reflects the company’s growth trajectory. “After 36 years of refining accounting and payroll ecosystems, we are scaling our physical footprint to match our digital presence,” he stated.
The new facility will serve as the firm’s primary operations base for its client services across South Africa.
The business began in 1990 as HH Accounting Services, founded by Helen Mclean as a local accounting practice. Over the following decades, it grew its client base and achieved Platinum Status as a Sage Business Partner.
In 2021, HH Accounting Services merged with Preferred Solutions, forming what is now Preferred Solutions Eastern Cape.
Helen Mclean noted that the merger changed the firm’s focus: “Joining the Preferred Solutions group five years ago allowed us to shift from being accounting-focused to being solutions-focused.”
The company currently serves over 8,000 client entities across South Africa.
Preferred Solutions Eastern Cape provides accounting and payroll services, specializing in Sage Pastel, Sage Evolution, and PaySpace software systems. The firm’s staff includes members of the South African Institute of Tax Professionals (SAIT).
According to Mclean, the company’s approach emphasizes customisation: “We build solutions that adapt to how a business actually works. Our approach is personal. We maintain proximity to the people involved to ensure the onboarding process is efficient and effective.”
The event also formalised a leadership transition, with Helen Mclean officially handing over management to Shane Mclean. Mclean, said Shane had been effectively leading the company for the past year.
“I officially pass on the leadership of Preferred Solutions to Shane. He has proven himself a visionary leader with strength, heart, and courage. He has already been carrying this mantle for the past year,” Helen Mclean said.
She credited Shane with driving the expansion: “The move to our new home in Walmer is a direct result of his hard work and vision.”
During the event, Mclean addressed clients and staff who contributed to the company’s development over the years. She thanked clients for their continued business and acknowledged both current and former employees.
“To our clients: your loyalty pushed us to grow, modernise, and constantly improve. We thank you for trusting us with your businesses through all these years,” she said.
