SAPS Ikamvelihle detectives are seeking the community’s assistance in tracing a silver VW Polo and two occupants allegedly involved in a double murder that took place on Saturday afternoon, May 7 in NU4A.
According to Colonel Priscilla Naidu, police spokesperson, it is alleged that at about 15:30 the silver VW Polo stopped in front of a house in Centane Street in Motherwell and several men alighted from the vehicle.
“The two victims went out to investigate who was in the yard when they were confronted by two men, wielding firearms. As they ran back to the house, several shots were fired at them,” Naidu said.
Luyanda Mati (42) sustained multiple bullet wounds, while Akona Waki (36) sustained a gunshot wound to her shoulder. She passed away while on the way to hospital.
“The motive for the murders are unknown at this stage.”
