Chatty detectives are hunting for approximately six suspects who allegedly killed three people and burned down a house in Booysens Park, Gqeberha in the early hours of this morning, August 8.
According to police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, it is alleged that at approximately 01:10 in Roman Street, Booysens Park, six suspects entered the house where the owner was socialising with his girlfriend and three other friends (two men and one woman).
She said that it is alleged that the suspects were looking for drugs.
“All the occupants were assaulted, with one woman being stabbed in the arm while the second woman had no visible injuries,” said Janse Van Rensburg.
She said while the two women were outside the house, the suspects tied up the three men, allegedly poured petrol in the house and set the place alight.
Janse Van Rensburg said that the three men, Christopher Mentoor (28), Darren Aphew (29) and Winston Clarke (30) were engulfed by the flames and burned to death.
“Three cases of murder, arson and assault to cause grievous bodily harm was opened for further investigation,” said Janse Van Rensburg.
“The suspects and the motive are unknown and will form part of the investigation.”
