Police at SAPS Algoa Park and Bethelsdorp arrested murder suspects in two unrelated cases, shortly after it was reported in Missionvale and in Salt Lake, respectively.

According to Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, police spokesperson, the first murder was reported on Saturday, 25 February at approximately 20:00 at Abrahams Street, Salt Lake.

“It is alleged that the deceased, Romaine Davids (33), was outside the suspect’s yard when the suspect told the deceased to leave. The suspect went into the house, came back out armed with a knife and stabbed the deceased once in the chest and ran away. While police were at the scene, the community brought the 40-year-old suspect to the scene of the crime and he was arrested on a charge of murder.”

In another, unrelated murder, at about 02:00 this morning, 26 February SAPS Algoa Park attended to a complaint of a murder at the Dora Nginza Hospital.

“Upon arrival they were informed that the deceased, Ashwell Bishop (37), was brought to the hospital from Missionvale. Investigations led detectives to a house in Arkansas Street in Missionvale where it was alleged that the deceased and the 35-year-old suspect were drinking earlier in the afternoon. When the couple went home, an argument emanated between them and the woman stabbed Davids once in the neck.”

Both the suspects will appear in the Magistrate’s Court on charges of murder.
