Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) audiences once again can expect to be captivated and entertained by talented dancers belonging to the city’s many and wonderful dance studios as they perform at the Friendly City Dance Festival (FCDF) from June 9 to 12, at the Savoy Theatre.
Now in its 4th year, FCDF has grown tremendously, and organisers are thrilled with the continued and growing support that the festival has received from dance studios and the public from in and around the city.
The festival prides themselves in offering a friendly platform to all their dancers to showcase their talent and proudly boasts an array of age groups with the youngest participant making her stage debut at a mere 5–years–old.
With 18 studios taking part this year, an impressive total of 833 participants will grace the stage in various dance styles including ballet, tap, contemporary, hip hop and jazz. The festival also has a rhythmic gymnastics section for the more bendy individuals.
“Our Friendly City Dance Festival is known to be the ‘friendliest show in town’. We love meeting dancers and teachers and making them feel at home and a part of our ‘Festival Family’,” said Monica Hewitson, chairlady of FCDF.
FCDF will run at The Savoy Theatre from June 9 to 12 and will be open to the public following COVID–19 protocols.
