HOËRSKOOL Framesby’s first rugby team is well prepared to make its mark at the Standard Bank Kearsney Easter Rugby Festival, which starts tomorrow, Thursday, April 18, and ends on Monday, April 22.

A talented mix of the country’s 12 top rugby-playing schools will participate in this year’s festival at Botha’s Hill in KwaZulu-Natal.

The other participating teams are hosts Kearsney, Glenwood, DHS, Hoërskool Transvalia (who will participate for the first time), Pretoria Boys’ High, Hoërskool Dr EG Jansen, HTS Middelburg, Welkom Gimnasium, Selborne College, HTS Drostdy and Hoërskool Noord- Kaap.

Once again, the festival is expected to offer spectators thrilling match-ups and exciting running rugby that makes this style of the game so popular, while also providing an opportunity to witness some of South Africa’s best fledgling talent.

Many players from previous Kearsney festivals have become household names in Super and Currie Cup rugby, as well as already playing at international level.

Where there is talent, there will also be talent scouts, and members of the KZN Rugby Union and Sharks Academy will be on the lookout for future players.

The festival has been hailed as having boosted the depth of talent entering the country’s rugby.

Sharks Academy managing director, Etienne Fynn, said, “The festival provides a great opportunity to bring together some of the top talented schoolboy rugby players from all over the country.”
