THE match between Framesby and Brandwag could provide fireworks this coming Saturday in Gqeberha.
Both sides played brilliant rugby at stages this year but were also very disappointing at times. They will both be eager to produce their best on Saturday.
Matches between these two teams are usually entertaining affairs and it will hopefully be the case again.
Another interesting battle where a Kariega team is involved is Daniel Pienaar hosting Pearson.
Grey High will be looking for another victory away from home. They travel to Qonce (King William’s Town) on Saturday to take on Dale College.
This past Saturday was a successful outing for Grey as they got the better of St Andrews College, winning 40-5 in Makhanda.
Grey slowly but surely got the upper hand in this encounter with a dominant display by the pack of forwards. The driving mauls from the line-outs were particularly effective.
With Eastern Province in the process of shaping the Craven Week team, there weren’t many other interschool matches.
There was a huge battle in Makhanda though, where Graeme College had to work very hard on their home ground to beat Kingswood 22-17.
Both teams were without their stars, who were involved in the provincial trials, but it was still a very good and exciting match.
It could have gone either way, as Kingswood was on the attack in the last minute of the match, but Graeme College managed to hang on.
For Graeme College, it was a memorable victory because it is the first time in many years that they won both their derbies, against St Andrews and now also Kingswood, in the same year.
Not many school rugby fans knew that the match between Otto du Plessis and Nico Malan was brought forward to early last week.
The fans missed out on a thrilling match with Otto, playing at home, just edging the visitors 9-7.
Upcoming fixtures:
Saturday: Despatch v Cillie, Graeme College v Ithembelihle, Dale College v Grey, Daniel Pienaar v Pearson, Framesby v Brandwag, Burgersdorp v Union High.
Moment of the week: The Battle of Makhanda, won by Graeme College.
