GQEBERHA – A foreign national traveling on the R75 was kidnapped yesterday morning while traveling with his private security.
According to police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, the incident occurred at approximately 10:50 AM while the victim was driving in a blue Ford Ranger.
“The vehicle was boxed in by two silver VW Polos. Approximately eight suspects, armed with rifles, exited the vehicles and forced the victim out of the Ford Ranger and into one of the VW Polos,” she said.
During the incident, a shot was fired, grazing one of the private security guards. The suspects fled the scene.
“A case of kidnapping has been opened at SAPS Kwadwesi following the incident, the investigation is ongoing,” she added.
