Nelson Mandela Bay firefighters have been battling a vegetation fire in Seaview since the early hours of this morning, Tuesday, June 22.
Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality spokesperson, Kupido Baron, said that they had received an emergency call about this fire in Albatross Road at approximately 05:30 this morning.
“We responded immediately and currently have nine vehicles with crew on site. The fire is not currently under control as the dense vegetation makes direct access to the raging flames difficult,” Baron said at approximately 09:30.
He mentioned that the entertainment area of a private property caught alight but that they had managed to extinguish that fire and no further damage to the property occurred.
“We are aided by calmer winds as the fire is currently spreading towards the seaside,” he added.
