The first team players of Framesby High can look forward to experiencing the fierce rivalry on the rugby field between South Africa and New Zealand.
Framesby will again be involved, from May 1 to 4, in the Wildeklawer Tournament at Diamantveld High in Kimberley. This popular tournament will be bigger than ever next year, and the exciting news is that there will be an international flavour for the first time.
A school from New Zealand, St John’s College in Hamilton, and a school from England which will be named later, will also play in Kimberley, alongside some of the best South African rugby schools.
Framesby will have the privilege of being the first South African team to take on the visitors, when they face St John’s College on the second day of the tournament.
Any rugby match between a South African and a New Zealand side is a big deal at any level, but especially now after the fiercely-contested World Cup final which the Springboks’ win 12–11 in France. Framesby will probably have a lot of support from their South African rivals when they play against the Kiwis.
There will also be a more familiar opponent of Framesby in Kimberley for the first time. The Gqeberha team are involved in an interschool weekend every year against Nico Malan, and the boys from Humansdorp will make their debut at the Wildeklawer Tournament.
They won’t be playing against Framesby but Nico Malan’s first match is against the visiting England school.

The u/19 Girls’ Week will start on December 10 in Cape Town, and will end on the 14th.
Megan Fourie of DF Malherbe and Jordan Cole of Pearson High will again be key players for the EP Girls. Their experience and ability with bat and ball is a huge asset to the team.
They were brilliant at last year’s week and were picked for the South African Schools side after their excellent performances.
From December 10 to 14, the u/16 Boys Week will take place in Oudtshoorn, and the u/16 Girls will play their first match on December 12 in Pietermaritzburg.
