Fans see surprises in ZWIFA Marina Sea Salt Premier League games


FANS were taken aback when some teams were embarrassed during the Zwide Football Association (ZWIFA) Marina Sea Salt Premier League at Zwide Celtics and Zwide Stadium, on Saturday and on Sunday.

Everton FC surprised fans when they salvaged an all-important 1–1 draw against title contenders, Strikers United, at Zwide Stadium on Saturday.

Sophakama FC supporters could not believe it when their side went down 3–1 to Gal City. It came as an expected result when Shining Stars trounced Alaska 3–0, also at Zwide Stadium on Saturday.

Major Chiefs were in for a result that they will never forget as they suffered a huge 7–1 defeat to Kuyasa United Brothers at Zwide Celtics Grounds on Saturday. The newly-promoted Amadamara disappointed title contenders Real Crusaders with a 2–0 win at Zwide Celtics Grounds on Saturday, and Zwide Pirates managed a narrow 2–1 win over Umanyano Stars.

Due to recent rains, only two games were played at Zwide Stadium on Sunday. Major Chiefs bounced back from their 7–1 loss to Kuyasa United Brothers as they defeated Umanyano Stars 2–1 in their tough match. According to ZWIFA match secretary Mxolisi Mdolomba, the dates for the postponed games, due to the weather conditions, would be announced soon.
