KWANOBUHLE-born Nalilitha Fanayo left Kariega on Sunday to join the DSTV Premier Soccer League giants, and champions, Mamelodi Sundowns.
The call came for the 13-year-old Fanayo after he represented the Qhagqiwa Football Association (QHAFA) during the national VW Vaya Cup U/13 tournament at Wits University in Witwatersrand from December 8 to 11.
According to his United Brothers FC junior coach, Asive Pongolo, Fanayo was top goal scorer of the tournament, managing seven goals over the course of the event.
QHAFA head of development, Ways Naidoo, said that Fanayo had guided his local football association (LFA) to the semi-finals before they were eliminated from the tournament.
“Nalilitha started playing football in 2014 and has a bright future in the sport. This boy has made our LFA and Mthonjeni Senior Primary School, as well as our province, very proud. On behalf of QHAFA, I would like to wish Fanayo best luck in his football career,” Naidoo said. “Furthermore, this boy will not disappoint us. Lastly, I would like to thank our LFA for the support they had shown to Fanayo.”
