MRS Universe South Africa semi-finalist, Amanda Lamprecht, is 34, a devoted mother, and wife, and a Gqeberha business owner. Her goal is to use the Mrs Universe South Africa platform to raise awareness about the effects of bullying, which cause children to commit suicide.

She also intends to raise awareness about the effects of domestic violence and gender-based violence, and to encourage people to take action to prevent these.

True to her mission and passion for children, Lamprecht recently visited the MTR Children’s Haven in Gqeberha, bearing gifts for the children.

“MTR Smit Children’s Haven provides residential care and support services to traumatised children between the ages of three and 18 years, who have been severely neglected, abused, and/or abandoned, by their parents or caregivers,” Lamprecht explained.

“I collected donations from various people and members of the community. It was important for me to make sure the items collected to donate to the children didn’t just comprise what they needed, but were also items they could enjoy and have fun with. These are tough times, and while many people are struggling, the way in which the community of Gqeberha came together to show up for these children really warmed my heart,” the beauty queen added.

While visiting the home, Lamprecht did not want to make it a simple handover of donations, instead she and the staff and volunteers at the home also organised a Mr and Miss MTR Smit 2024 pageant to raise more funds for the home, as well as entertain and inspire the young minds.

The young mother emphasised the importance of being charitable.

“It brings communities together, from all different walks of life. Being the only Mrs Universe South Africa semi-finalist from the Eastern Cape Province, I have made it my mission to fly our name high, wherever this journey takes me.”

Lamprecht’s 11-year-old daughter, Inke Lee Lamprecht, who was also at the handover, is a model at V-Models PE, and, like her mother, uses modelling as a platform to help others, “and to enjoy every moment”.

Venessa Weber from V-Models commended the young beauty queen.

“Inke has excelled at such a young age and in such a short period in the modelling industry, and is extremely focused on raising awareness of bullying in schools and child empowerment.

“Her awards include Miss Pre-Teen Port Elizabeth/Gqeberha, crowned Miss Pre-Teen Port Elizabeth/Gqeberha 2024, Overall Debutante, Jnr Public Choice Award, Pre-Teen Entrepreneur, and Jnr Creative Wear Award,” said Weber.

“The Mr & Miss MTR Smit Competition, hosted by Amanda Lamprecht, provided so many outcomes for the children involved, including a boost of their self-esteem and a sense of mastery. It takes a huge amount of courage to participate in a competition of this nature, and I applaud these young people for the way in which they rose to the occasion,” said the Director of MTR Children’s Haven, Tanya Eales. “They can all be proud of themselves, and in my eyes they are all winners. MTR Smit is dependent on donations and sponsorship from the public and would not be able to provide the services we need to render without taking hands with the public.”
