‘Express’, Isuzu bring learners free career webinars


EP MEDIA, a division of Media24’s Local Newspaper group, in association with Isuzu SA will on Thursday (May 20) at 17:00 host its first free online career webinar for high school learners.

This first webinar, which can be attended live via Facebook and YouTube, will focus on general career counselling and the vast array of choices learners have after grade 12.

Expert panellists for first webinar

Among the panellists for the first webinar on May 20, will be Anovuyo Tshemesa, event and CSI coordinator from Isuzu, who will share her journey of being schooled in a small village near East London, with no access to computers, getting an NSFAS bursary, to studying public relations at NMU and now working at Isuzu.

Another panellist is Andrew Binning who heads up marketing and corporate communications Company, Inkanyezi, who have organised the Working World Careers Exhibition for the past 22 years.

Also on the panel will be Nola Payne who is the head of the faculty at the Independent Institute of Education.

Izelle Palmer, head of marketing and recruitment at Sol-Tech and board member of X2Y Career Guidance organisation will also be on the panel. X2Y represents more than 80 tertiary institutions and guides learners with career opportunities and admission requirements.

During this webinar we will also give more information about the Centre for Student Recruitment at Stellenbosch University which offers subject, as well as career counselling assessments to support prospective students in making realistic choices in terms of tertiary programmes and career options. 

The next five career webinars will be about specific careers. Experts from around the country have been selected as panellists for these webinars.

The themes of the webinars will be:

  • NMU and Isuzu Mechatronics (17:00 on June 17)
  • Artificial Intelligence (17:00 on July 22)
  • Education (17:00 on August 19)
  • Journalism (17:00 on September 23)
  • Logistics (17:00 on October 21)

These webinars can be attended live via Facebook and YouTube and will be recorded to view afterwards.

It will be a wonderful tool for teachers to use in their life orientation classes.

The webinars are specifically scheduled for 17:00 to give as many learners as possible – and their parents – the opportunity to attend and ask questions live to the experts.
