FOOTBALLER turned photographer, Andile Mnana, has urged the youth to not let their backgrounds deter them from reaching their goals, as nothing is impossible.
Mnana, who was born in New Brighton, 38 years ago, feels that the youth should use whatever opportunities come their way. He said that life was not easy for him, but after he passed Grade 12, at Masiphathisane High School in Motherwell, he studied human resources management at Vista University.
He played football and bought himself a second-hand camera to take sports photos just for fun.
He said, “I have a passion for sport and I used to take sports photos.
“Some photos were pretty good and others were bad. As time went on, my passion for photography just developed. I told my wife that I had a passion for photography.
“Life was not easy at all, but I told myself that I would like to achieve my goal. I met experienced photographers, who shared their experience with me.
“These photographers told me that I should not put myself under pressure but I should enjoy every single moment of what I am doing.
“God sent me to the right people, because they were so willing to help me out till today. From humble beginnings, I am a store manager at Motherwell Midas.
“I bought a second-hand camera some time ago. I started taking mainly sports photos and other things I saw in front of me. My message to the youth of today is that nothing is impossible in life.
“If you are passionate about something, do not hesitate. Go for it.
“You must do your research properly and talk to people with expertise and experience. It does not matter where you were born or grew up, follow your dreams. I am more than willing to advice the youth so that they will realise their dreams. My contact number is 074 413 2790.”
