Eid-ul-Fitr (the festival of breaking the fast) is often referred to simply as Eid and marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting and spiritual reflection observed by Muslims. Celebrated this week, Eid is a time of joy, gratitude and celebration, bringing families, friends and communities together. Essies, traditional spicy biscuits unique to Nelson Mandela Bay, are synonymous with Eid in Gqeberha.
