THE Northern Areas Football Association (NAFA) hosted the 45th soccer tournament for the SPAR NAFA Easter Soccer Festival. Local clubs had an opportunity to compete in the tournament which generated an electric atmosphere among the supporters from different teams.
The Easter festival was inclusive of food and entertainment which supporters of the local clubs could enjoy.
“The local support for the teams was incredible and this is probably the primary reason for the outstanding spectator involvement over the weekend,” said media liaison officer Vincent Heynes. The decision to continue with the age group competitions from u/10 to u/20 was a major boost to the tournament and the inclusion of the junior divisions attracted a lot of attention as parents and families arrived in volumes to support the young players.
NAFA thanked the title sponsors, SPAR, for the significant role played by them in the tournament.
“Their contribution is extremely important and we would not be able to host such a successful event without their support,” said Heynes.
The final was a tense match between Premier League club Park United and their rivals, Bloom Callies. Park United won 1-0.
