An inquest docket has been opened after the body of a 54-year-old
man was found burned in his informal home in Moeggesukkel, Uitenhage at about
20:30 last night, April 9.
According to police spokesperson Captain Gerda Swart, it is
alleged that SAPS Kamesh members responded to a complaint of a house that was
burning.
“The fire department, who was already on the scene succeeded
in putting out the flames and the burnt remains of the man was discovered under
the debris,” Swart said.
She said the cause of the fire is not known at this stage
and the name of the deceased will be released after formal identification
has been completed.
