AS Edge Fitness Clubs celebrates its 10th anniversary, they would like to celebrate a very special man who has made it all happen – Grant Austin.
After many years of managing Fitsmart, and developing a franchise system used by established fitness chains, Austin felt the desire to pursue his own interests in health clubs and purchased the first site in Jeffrey’s Bay, namely Edge Fitness Club.
Austin will say his passion is fitness and health, but those that are lucky enough to work alongside him and know him personally, know that his passion is people, and more so, helping, enabling and empowering people.
“You don’t build a business, you build people and they build the business with you,” he said.
Austin’s colleagues describe him as someone who treats everyone as an equal and who will stop at nothing to facilitate the success of others – and who is not a boss, but a leader.
Ronnie van Rensburg, Edge Fitness sales director, said, “I have known Grant for 25 years as a close friend and colleague, but after the passing of my brother in 2011 and losing my best friend, Grant stepped into this role and I gained a new best friend and mentor and would like to thank him for that.”
Edge Fitness Walmer club manager, Deon Strydom, remarked that “Grant has been a boss at times, a saviour at times and always a friend.”
FSTM director, Winston Wilson, said, “It is wonderful to work for someone who constantly motivates you to reach your full potential.”
