FLYING Eagles soared to victory in both the u/16 and u/19 categories of the 2018 ZAKHELE Netball Association (ZANA) Easter Tournament at the Lillian Ngoyi Indoor Sports Centre in KwaZakhele recently, while Flamingos won the senior section.

According to one of the tournament organisers, Thembalethu Vena, the event stood out from its predecessors because of the extremely high standard of play.

“I am extremely happy because I watched the teams whose performances were excellent beyond any doubt right from the beginning to the end. The crowds came in droves and they were so enthusiastic. Their behaviour was very proper and acceptable.

“There were no hassles because all the proceedings went according to the plan,” said Vena.

The participating teams hailed from Motherwell, Joe Slovo, Northern Areas and KwaZakhele.

The tournament was played in a straight point system and the u/16, u/19 and senior teams participated. The winning teams went home with trophies, gold medals, whistles and balls, while the runners-up received silver medals.
