LELETHU Dyasi and his younger brother, Sive, scored a goal apiece to help Valencia claim a well-deserved 2-0 victory over their neighbours, Showvillage United Brothers, during the Motherwell Football Association (MOFA) Vodacom BTS Challenge 2018 Champions finals at Motherwell NU 2 Stadium on Sunday.
Valencia FC showed that they had set their sights on winning the trophy after they demolished Shining Stars 4-1 in the semi-finals earlier on Sunday.
Showvillage had a mammoth task against Royal Bucks, whom they beat 4-3 in a penalty shoot-out after a 2-2 full-time score. Showvillage came from 2-0 behind to force the game into penalty kicks.
In the finals Showvillage had numerous goal-scoring opportunities, but their strikers failed to convert them into goals.
Valencia also had a few chances in the first half, but the sides went to the interval in a goalless deadlock.
In the second half, fans saw a more attacking Valencia side.
Lelethu Dyasi received a low cross that he squeezed into the far corner to beat Showvillage’s experienced goalkeeper, Bulelani Dunana. Valencia gained the lead 1-0 in the early stages of the second half.
Coach Bongani Sandi then replaced Lelethu Dyasi with his younger brother, Sive Dyasi. The lanky youngster raided Showvillage’s defence, although his first chance went wide.
With eight minutes left, Sive penetrated between two Showvillage defenders and he scored a world-class goal that guided Valencia FC to a well-deserved 2-0 triumph.
The winners went home with a trophy, gold medals and a new set of kit, while the runners-up settled for silver medals and a new set of kit.
